The School

Mount Vernon Christian School was established in 1951 by parents who desired to offer a K-8 Christian day-school in the Skagit Valley. After gradual growth and expansion of facilities, MVC welcomed the first High School class beginning in 1983. In August of 2008, a new High School facility was completed and included classroom space for 200 students and a gymnasium that accommodates more than 1,000 people. MVC’s facilities currently occupy 30 acres of land in south Mount Vernon.

Mount Vernon Christian, committed to education based on the infallible Word of God, seeks to serve God by preparing students to respond in loving service to God and their neighbors.

As an extension of the Christian home, we assist parents in nurturing their children in the knowledge of the Lord and of His creation, thereby equipping students to embrace biblical values while being Christ’s agents of renewal in the world.

Accreditation

Mount Vernon Christian is fully accredited  through the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges. The school operates as an approved private school by the State of Washington.  MVC is a member of Christian School International (CSI) and the Washington Federation of Independent Schools (WFIS).

Class size

The teacher/student ratio for K-8 is 1:12 and the average class size is 21. The High School teacher/student ratio is 1:15 and the average class size for the core classes is 22. The non-core/elective classes average class size is 8.

Busing

There is busing south along the I-5 corridor to Marysville and a route from Mount Vernon to Burlington to Sedro-Wooley.

Hot Lunch

Hot lunch is offered on Fridays. Volunteers prepare the food and serve it to the students and staff. There is sign-up and payment at the beginning of the school year or prior to each quarter.
